5 Exercises to feel Happy 😊

Happiness is the most important thing in life. I think everything revolves around happiness. We strive, struggle, compete, work hard, eat healthy, wear fancy clothing, live in a beautiful house, work round the clock to take care of our family, travel around the world and the list goes on. The bottom line is we do all of this because in some way, somewhere to feel happy!!

That being said, I think happiness is the oxygen of our life. So here are five exercises which I think we all should take out time and do to stay happy. This might sound simple but trust me it works. Because when you keep it simple, the universe keeps your life simple, less complex and happier.

Think Positive: Whatever happens in your life, whatever situation you are in, whatever stress you have, don’t focus on what you can’t do, or can’t change, focus on what you can do and you can change.

That being said the only thing you can change in this world is yourself and your thoughts. When you get up in the morning thank god, to wake you up from sleep, tell the universe what are your wishes. Once done with this, let the weight of your wishes and desires be on the shoulder of the universe. All you do is learn to enjoy the day at work and home by going with the flow, try and work around things rather then confronting it. Be more creative about how you want to connect your dots for the day. Take one day at a time and don’t forget to smile, to sing, to dance, be thankful for every day and everything you experience. Practice freedom and don’t confine yourself to a box, to a phone, to a person, to a newspaper. Spend time with your kids, your better half, your parents, and your friends.

Document: Every day at least write about one thing that made you happy. If you don’t like writing take a picture of your kid, your pet, or anyone you love the most and look at it for a minute. Just thinking about the positive experience, you had on a daily basis has a positive impact on your life. As they say, what goes around comes around. Likewise, you get what you feed your brain with.

Exercise: Being a physical therapist, I think that everyday everyone should take out some time and     engage in some sort of recreational activity that includes burning calories and releasing the stress   hormones, endorphin. That being said, based on your age, wellness, capacity and interest you have to pick and chose what you would like to do: for example, play cricket, football, go for a run, go to the gym, and lift weight, attend a Zumba class or simply go for a walk. The only advice would be to perceive it as a form of recreational activity and make it your habit Vs thinking of it as a form of exercises, which you are forced to do.

Be Kind: As someone has said you don’t need power unless you want to harm anyone, love is very powerful tool to keep everyone happy. As I said earlier keep it simple, be kind. Trust me, every act of kindness will make your heart and brain stronger. It will help you to get happier and less stressful. This in a way will increase the quality and may also increase your overall life expectancy. It’s ok to praise, appreciate and be thankful!

Exercise your mind: As we exercise our body it’s even more important to exercise your brain. I always tell my patients “Brain controls everything and I try to control the brain”. That being said we all know that everything starts with a thought, your thought is the seed for what you want and will get. Your thoughts do become your action sooner or later. So, it’s vital to connect your body to your thought to get what you want faster and more then that, its important to keep your thoughts right and avoid any negative thoughts. Breathing exercise, meditation, chanting, all this will help you to keep your thoughts clear and positive. You should close your eyes and do rehearsals of your thoughts over and over which will then generate more thoughts which will then help you to connect your brain to your body, which will eventually make things real. For example, if you want a beautiful house and

a race car. You should think about it, you should rehearse in your mind what kind of house and car you want. This will generate more thoughts about how you are going to get that. Then you should rehearse the previous thoughts which will eventually generate more thoughts about different strategies and application to achieve your goal. The most important part in exercising your mind is that you should only allow positive thoughts and stop the negative thoughts from flourishing as soon you get it.
